Anti-Lock Brake System: Description

NOTE: For more information on brake system, see appropriate DISC & DRUM article.
CAUTION: See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS article in GENERAL INFORMATION.

The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) allows the driver to stop vehicle in the shortest distance while maintaining steering control. System consists of a master cylinder/booster assembly, ABS control module, Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU), electric pump/motor, 4 wheel sensors and 2 warning lights (ANTI-LOCK and BRAKE).

Optional Traction Control (TC) system is available. TC works with the ABS to control rear wheel spin when vehicle is accelerating on loose or slippery surfaces.
