System Tests

NOTE: Before beginning system testing, perform TROUBLE SHOOTING.
NOTE: A New Generation Star (NGS) tester is required to test the power mirror system. If NGS tester does not communicate with vehicle, refer to NGS tester manual.

Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to data link connector. Perform DATALINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If NGS tester responds with CKT 914, CKT 915 or CKT 917=ALL MODULES NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED, diagnose network concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article. If NGS tester responds with, NO RESPONSE/NOT EQUIPPED for Driver Seat Module (DSM) or exits self-test and returns to normal operating state, go to TEST E under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.

If NGS tester responds with SYSTEM PASSED for all modules, retrieve DTCs for DSM modules. If any DTCs exist, perform appropriate test. See appropriate DSM DTC DEFINITIONS table. If no DTCs were retrieved, repair system by symptom. See SYMPTOM CHART table and perform appropriate test under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS.

(2) Refer to SYMPTOM CHART table for customer concern, then perform TEST D or TEST E.
(3) Check charging system and repair as necessary. See GENERATOR article in the ELECTRICAL section. If charging system is okay, repair wiring as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
