Air Switching Valve
- Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Disconnect the vacuum sensing tube from the No. 1 relief valve diaphragm. Disconnect the air pump inlet-to-control valve hose. Also, disconnect control valve-to-exhaust manifold hose (on bottom of air control valve).
- If equipped, disconnect the vacuum sensing tubes from No. 2 relief valve. Disconnect and plug vacuum sensing tube from air switching valve diaphragm. Start engine and run at idle speed.
- Apply intake manifold vacuum to No. 1 relief valve diaphragm. Place finger over air control valve outlet ports. Air should NOT be discharged from either port.
- Connect intake manifold vacuum directly to air switching valve diaphragm. Air should be discharged from control valve-to-exhaust manifold outlet port (below air switching valve). If air switching valve does not respond as outlined, replace air control valve assembly.
