Hot Idle COMPENSATOR

  1. Cool bi-metallic compensator valve to ensure valve is closed. Detach air hose from intake manifold and using vacuum pump, try to pull air through valve. No air should pass through valve.
  2. Using a heat lamp, heat bi-metallic to temperature above 155°F (69°C) and apply vacuum to hose. Air should pass through valve. Replace valve, if it does not respond as outlined.
