Air By-Pass Solenoid Valve

  1. Ensure all accessories are off and connect a tachometer. Bring engine to normal operating temperature and run at idle. Disconnect air by-pass solenoid valve connector and ensure the engine idle is 750-800 RPM M/T and 900-950 RPM A/T. Adjust if necessary.
  2. Apply battery power and ground to each connector terminal. See Fig 1 . See IDLE-UP SPECIFICATIONS  table. Ensure engine RPM for each system is within specifications. Adjust each system RPM by turning the appropriate valve adjusting screw.

  3. With engine off and air by-pass valve connector disconnected, use an ohmmeter to check resistance of each system. See RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS  table. Use connector terminal location as previously shown. See Fig 1 .
  4. Reconnect air by-pass valve connector. Start engine and run at idle RPM. Check and adjust idle RPM if not within specifications.
