Relief Solenoid Valve (Turbo) Signal Check

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature and let idle. Connect tachometer to engine. Connect Checker Lamp (49 F018 001) to the Green check connector. Disconnect the vacuum hose from relief solenoid valve to air control valve at the air control valve. Place finger over port opening.
  2. Checker Lamp (49 F018 001) Green lamp should illuminate and no air should flow from port opening. Check that Green lamp turns off after engine speed reaches 3850 RPM or more and that there is air flowing from port opening.
  3. Disconnect heat hazard sensor connector. Attach a jumper wire to the terminals of the connector leading to the ECU. Check that Green lamp does not illuminate and that air is not sucked into the port opening at any engine speed. Disconnect jumper wire and reconnect heat hazard sensor.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect coolant temperature switch connector located on the radiator. Turn on ignition. Increase engine speed. Check that Green lamp does not illuminate and that air is not sucked into port opening when engine speed is more then 1000-1200 RPM.
