Trouble Shooting: Notes

  1. Open driver's side door window and remove ignition key.
  2. Open driver's side door and lock, and passenger's side lock knobs. Security lamp should come on and off with door locked. Buzzer should sound with door locked. If lamp does not come on see Inspection A below. If buzzer does not sound, replace Control Unit.
  3. Close and lock driver's side door without key. Security lamp should come on for 10 seconds, 5 seconds, 3 seconds and 3 seconds. If lamp does not come on, replace Control Unit.
  4. Open rear trunk hatch with key.
  5. Unlock driver's side lock knob. Horn should sound. headlights and hazard warning lights should flash. If horn does not sound, see Inspection B. If headlights and hazard warning lights do not flash, see Inspection C.
  6. Turn ignition switch to START. Starter should not operate. If it operates, see Inspection D.
  7. Turn driver's side key cylinder to unlock.
  8. Remove STOP fuse, and retest steps 1, 2, 3, and 5. Headlights and hazard warning lights should flash for 5 minutes. If lights do not continue flashing for 5 minutes, replace Control Unit.
