Idle Switch Test

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature and run engine at idle speed. Connect tachometer to engine. Connect voltmeter to Light Green/Red wire terminal of idle switch. See Fig 1 .
  2. Increase engine speed to more than 2000 RPM and decelerate gradually. At 1000-1200 RPM, reading should be less than 1.5 volts.
  3. If voltage reading at idle is not 12 volts, turn idle switch adjustment screw to adjust.
