Trouble Shooting: Notes
NOTE:
Key must be in ignition for power mirrors to operate.
NOTE:
If both mirrors are inoperative, begin testing at step 1). If one mirror is inoperative, remove switch panel assembly (instrument cluster cover), insert key into ignition and begin testing at step 6).
- Turn ignition on. Check ROOM fuse (15-amp). If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse (repair wiring if necessary).
- Remove switch panel assembly (instrument cluster cover). Measure voltage at Pink/Black wire terminal of power mirror switch connector. If battery voltage exists, go to step 5). If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Remove steering column cover. Measure voltage at Blue/Red wire terminal of key reminder switch connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair Blue/Red wire between fuse and key reminder switch.
- Measure voltage at Pink/Black wire terminal of key reminder switch connector. With key inserted, battery voltage should be present. With key removed, zero volts should be present. If voltage is as specified, repair Pink/Black wire between key reminder switch and power mirror switch. If voltage is not as specified, replace key reminder switch.
- Disconnect power mirror switch connector. Check continuity between ground and Black wire terminal of power mirror switch connector. If continuity exists, reconnect power mirror switch connector and go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair Black wire between power mirror switch and ground.
- Measure voltage at the indicated power mirror switch connector terminals with switch in specified position. Refer to the POWER MIRROR CIRCUIT TEST . If battery voltage exists at all terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist at all terminals, replace power mirror switch.
- Measure voltages at power mirror motor connector terminals as specified in previous step with power mirror switch in specified position. If battery voltage does not exist at all terminals, repair wiring between power mirror switch and power mirror motor. If battery voltage exists at all terminals, replace power mirror assembly.
