Ignition Timing: A/T

  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) scan tool to data link connector 2 located under left side of instrument panel, right of steering column. See Fig 2 . Ensure idle speed is correct. See IDLE SPEED & MIXTURE  .
  2. Connect timing light to engine. Check timing. See Figure . See IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS  table. If ignition timing is not within specification, check distributor installation. Distributor cannot be rotated to adjust ignition timing.
IGNITION TIMING SPECIFICATIONS (Degrees BTDC @ RPM)

Application M/T (1) A/T
626 2.0L (2) 11-13 @ 650-750 11-13 @ 650-750
(1) Place automatic transmission in Park.
(2) Connect a jumper wire between terminals TEN and GND of data link connector. See Fig 3 .
