Component Testing: Speedometer

NOTE: Tire size, wear and incorrect inflation can affect speedometer reading and odometer measurement.
  1. Remove instrument cluster. Connect output terminal of New Generation Star (49-T088-0A0) scan tool to terminal 1F (Gray/Blue wire) of instrument cluster connector. Reconnect instrument cluster connector.
  2. Turn ignition on. Connect Red wire of NGS scan tool to positive battery terminal and connect Black wire to ground. Using NGS scan tool, select DIGITAL MEASUREMENT SYSTEM, and then select SIGNAL SIMULATION. Set the following values:
    • LOW LEVEL: 0V
    • HIGH LEVEL: 6V
    • DUTY CYCLE: 50%
    • COUPLING: AC
  3. Using NGS scan tool, set FREQUENCY as specified. See SPEEDOMETER VARIATION SPECIFICATIONS  . Press START. Verify speedometer is within allowable range. If speedometer is not within allowable range, replace speedometer.
