Fail-Safe Relay
NOTE:
Fail-safe relay is part of ABS relay. If fail-safe relay is defective, replace ABS relay.
- ABS relay is located in left side of engine compartment, under cruise control actuator, near battery. Turn ignition off. Remove ABS relay.
- Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between ABS relay terminals "c" and "d". See Fig 1 . Resistance should be 60-100 ohms. If resistance is not as specified, replace ABS relay. If resistance is as specified, go to next step.
- Check for continuity between ABS relay terminals "a" and "e". Continuity should exist. Also, check continuity between ABS relay terminals "b" and "e". Continuity should not exist. If continuity is not as specified, replace ABS relay. If continuity is as specified, go to next step.
- Apply 12 volts to ABS relay terminal "d" and ground ABS relay terminal "c". See Fig 1 . Check for continuity between ABS relay terminals "a" and "e". Continuity should not exist. Also, check for continuity between ABS relay terminals "b" and "e". Continuity should exist. If continuity is not as specified, replace ABS relay.
