Component Tests: CLOCKSPRING

Deactivate air bag system. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in RESTRAINTS. Remove driver's side air bag. Remove lower steering column cover. Disconnect clockspring harness connectors (4 connectors in all; 2 on each side of clockspring). See Fig 1 . Check continuity between clockspring terminals. See CLOCKSPRING CONTINUITY  table. If continuity is not as specified, replace clockspring.
