Warning Devices Description: Notes

The warning device system consists of the following components:

Generic electronic module (GEM)
Safety belt warning indicator switch, which is an integral part of the driver safety belt retractor pretensioner
Key-in-ignition warning switch
Door ajar switch(es)

There are five warning chimes and lamps the GEM controls: headlamps operating without the ignition on (chime only), door ajar (chime and lamp), key-in-ignition (chime only), driver safety belt warning (chime and lamp), and belt minder (chime and lamp).

NOTE:

The GEM is diagnosed through the data link connector (DLC) with the WDS or equivalent tester.
