Steering Shift Switch Removal/Installation

WARNING:

Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Remove the driver-side air bag module. (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
Remove the steering wheel. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Disconnect the steering shift switch wiring harness connector.

Detach the tabs of the cover in the area circled by a dashed line and open the cover.

Using a precision flat head screwdriver, release the tab.

Remove the screw.

Remove the steering shift switch component from the gap in the opening of the cover.

Install in the reverse order of removal.
