Starter Removal/Installation: Notes

WARNING:

Remove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury.
When the battery cables are connected, touching the vehicle body with starter terminal B will generate sparks. This can cause personal injury, fire, and damage to the electrical components. Always disconnect the negative battery cable before performing the following operation.

Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION .)
Remove the front crossmember under cover. (See FRONT CROSSMEMBER UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
Remove the bolts shown in the illustration and set the oil pipes aside. (AT) (See OIL COOLER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SJ6A-EL] .)

Remove the bolts shown in the illustration and disconnect the clutch release cylinder with the pipe connected. (MT)

Remove the bolt shown in the illustration and set the ground aside.

Remove in the order indicated in the table.

Install in the reverse order of removal.
