Fuel Pump Relay
- Using volt/ohmmeter, connect positive lead to terminal 30, and negative lead to terminal 3 of connector plug and measure voltage. If reading is 0 volts, go to step 2).
- Remove negative lead of volt/ohmmeter from terminal 3 and connect to vehicle ground. If reading is approx. 12 volts, check terminal 31 for short. If voltage is 0, check for short at terminal 30.
- Switch on ignition, measure voltage at terminal 15 of connector. If reading is 0 volts, check terminal 15 for short. If reading is 12 volts, go to step 4).
- Using dwell meter, connect leads to terminal 10. Actuate starter, dwell should be 7-34°. If reading is off, check cable from terminal 10 (Green/Yellow) to TSU for short. If cable is good, replace switching unit. If dwell reading is good, go to step 5).
- Bridge terminal 87 and 30. If fuel pump is running, end of test. If fuel pump is not running, go to step 6).
- Check cable from terminal 87 (Black/Red and White) to fuel pump for shorts. If cable is good, replace fuel pump relay. If fuel pump is not running, replace fuel pump.
