COMPLAINT
Climate control system not functioning, fuse 72 blown in relay module K40/5 and possibly an amber engine warning lamp illuminated.
CAUSE
Chafed climate system harness.
REMEDY
- Disconnect the battery ground cable as per WIS document AR54.10-P-0003SLR.
- Remove the cover on the center console as per WIS document AR68.20-P-2350SLR.
- Remove radio as per WIS document AR82.60-P-7502SLR.
- Refer to (Fig 1) and inspect the outer insulation covering of the flat LIN bus wiring for any witness marks from contact with the center console carbon fiber support. Please note that (Fig 1) shows the climate housing out of the vehicle and viewed from the top. The drawn lines show the routing of the harness.
- The circles shown in Fig 2 are the areas where the harness may be making contact.
- If the climate system fuse 72 has blown in relay module K40/5 and/or the insulation covering has been chafed through to the wire, the harness must be replaced with A230 820 02 15. If there are only superficial marks on the insulation, cover the area of the harness with fabric tape.
- Felt tape should be applied to both edges of the carbon fiber support and the harness wires tucked away so that they do not make contact. Clean the surfaces of the carbon fiber support with degreasing spray A001 986 71 71 10 and apply felt tape A001 983 23 10 as shown in Fig 3. Wrap felt around edge of structure.
- Reassemble vehicle in reverse order.
- Reconnect battery.
- Using SDS read fault code memory and erase all DTCs.
