TPMS Reset Procedures: Notes
NOTE:
Whenever tire pressure has been adjusted, or when wheels or tires have been replaced, the TPM system must be activated.
NOTE:
In the event of air pressure changes, wheel replacement, or tire change, new air pressure values in the TPMS are detected automatically by filling detection after a 10 minute drive. Manual reactivation is merely planned as a solution if automatic filling detection fails.
NOTE:
Some 2006 U.S. models and 2006-11 Canadian models may be equipped with a TPM system called the Tire Pressure Loss Warning System (Run Flat Indicator). It is an Indirect type system, which does not use tire pressure sensors installed on the wheels. The reset procedures are the same as the Direct type sytem, covered in this article, with the exception that the TPMS reactivation messages use the terms "Tire Pressure Loss Warning" or "Run Flat Indicator".
If the warning light is on and multifunction display shows a message, immediately check air pressure of all tires and adjust to the specified pressure. Reactivate TPM system. Drive vehicle for a few minutes to ensure malfunction has been corrected.
NOTE:
Tire pressure should only be adjusted on cold tires. Observe the recommended tire inflation pressure on the placard on the driver's door "B" pillar (some models may have supplemental inflation information on the fuel filler flap).
