Update Engine Control Module Software

This Service Campaign has been initiated because Daimler AG (DAG), the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that the software in the engine control module does not meet specifications. It is therefore possible that a communication error may occur between the engine control unit and the ESP control unit. This communication error may result in fast torque control via ignition angle not being possible. To correct his condition dealers will update the engine control module software at the next dealer visit.

Prior to performing this Service Campaign:

Please check VMI to determine if the vehicle is involved in the Campaign and if it has been previously repaired.
Please review the entire Service Campaign bulletin and follow the repair procedure exactly as described.

Approximately 5 vehicles are affected.

PROCEDURE

NOTE:

Use DAS/Xentry 12/2014-01-02/2015 with all associated patches or higher.
Follow the steps exactly as described in DAS/Xentry.
Connect battery charger (battery voltage >12.5V).
Ensure all electrical consumers are switched-off.

Update software for MEG 17.7 control module:
Control units / Drive / MEG 17.7 / Control unit adaptations / Control unit programming.
Follow on-screen instructions.
NOTE: Please verify ME software number change after performing the software update.
