MPFI System: Operation: Notes
The ECA receives inputs from battery, ignition switch, ignition module (RPM signal), neutral switch, Vane Airflow (VAF) meter, Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor, Barometric Pressure (BARO) sensor, clutch switch, Coolant Temperature Switch (CTS) and Exhaust Gas Oxygen (EGO) sensor. The ECA uses this information in controlling the following outputs: injectors, A/C cut relay, purge solenoids No. 1 and 2, Idle Speed Control (ISC) solenoid and ignition module.
The ECA detects engine operation, driving condition, and exhaust gas oxygen content, from various switches, sensors and components. ECA uses this information in controlling the amount of fuel injected into engine. The ECA also has some control over the evaporative emission, idle-up, ignition and deceleration systems.
