Power Mirror Pinpoint Test

  1. Remove and inspect the 15 amp Cigar fuse. Is fuse okay? If yes, go to step  4 . If no, go to next step.
  2. Replace the 15 amp Cigar fuse. Cycle ignition. Did fuse fail again? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step  4 .
  3. Locate and disconnect interior fuse panel connector. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Disconnect remote control mirror switch. Measure resistance between Blue/White wire at the interior fuse panel connector and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, service Blue/White wire. If no, go to next step.
  4. Disconnect remote control mirror switch. Turn key to ON position. Measure voltage on the Blue/White wire at the remote control mirror switch connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is voltage greater than 10 volts? If yes, go to next step. If no, service Blue/White wire between interior fuse panel and remote control mirror switch.
  5. Measure resistance between the Black wire at the remote control mirror switch and ground. Is resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, service short in Black wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  6. NOTE: When switch is in resting position, 0 Volts should be on all wires.
  7. Locate remote control mirror switch. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS  . Using the following list, check voltages at the remote control mirror switch.
    • With the right power mirror switch in the UP position, the Light Green/Black wire should have 12 Volts. In the DOWN position, the Light Green/Black wire should have 0 Volts. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If the voltages are as specified, go to next step. If voltages are not as specified, replace power mirror switch. See OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
    • With the right power mirror in the LEFT position, the Brown/Black wire should have 12 Volts. In the RIGHT position, the Brown/Black wire should have 0 Volts. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace power mirror switch. See OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
    • With the left power mirror switch in the UP position, the Light Green/Yellow wire should have 12 Volts. In the DOWN position, the Light Green/Yellow wire should have 0 Volts. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace power mirror switch. See OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
    • With the left power mirror switch in the LEFT position, the Brown/Red wire should have 12 Volts. In the RIGHT position, the Brown/Red wire should have 0 Volts. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If voltage is as specified, go to next step. If voltage is not as specified, replace power mirror switch. See OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
If all voltages are correct, go to next step.
  8. Locate the remote control mirror motor connectors. Check the voltages at the remote control mirror motors as shown in the following list while moving the remote control mirror switch.
    • With the left mirror switch in the UP position, the Light Green/Yellow wire should have 12 volts and the Brown wire should have 0 volts. With the left mirror switch in the DOWN position, the Light Green wire should have 0 volts and the Brown wire should have 12 volts. If voltages are as specified, go to next step. If voltage is as specified, replace power mirror motor(s). See OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is not as specified, service the wire with the incorrect voltage value. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
    • With the left power mirror switch in the LEFT position, the Brown wire should have 0 volts and the Brown/Yellow wire should have 12 volts. With the left power mirror switch in the RIGHT position, the Brown wire should have 12 volts and the Brown/Yellow wire should have 0 volts.
    • With the right power mirror switch in the UP position, the Light Green/Black wire should have 12 volts and the Brown wire should have 0 volts. With the left mirror switch in the DOWN position, the Light Green/Black wire should have 0 volts and the Brown wire should have 12 volts.
    • With the right power mirror switch in the LEFT position, the Brown wire should have 0 volts. With the right power mirror switch in the RIGHT position, the Brown wire should have 12 volts.
