Road Test

  1. Ensure engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature. Road test vehicle in "D" position. Accelerate vehicle at half throttle until transaxle shifts into overdrive (4th gear). Record shift speeds. Reduce speed and come to a complete stop. Accelerate from stop at full throttle. Record shift speeds. Operate vehicle at full throttle. Record all shift speeds. Monitor shift feel. Ensure transaxle engine braking is felt in "2" and "1" gear. See SHIFT SPEED SPECIFICATIONS  table.
  2. Connect appropriate scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Perform road test as described in step 1)  and monitor shift solenoid operation. See TRANSAXLE SHIFT SOLENOID STATUS  table. Check clutch and band applications. See CLUTCH & BAND APPLICATIONS  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.

(1) To determine deceleration shift speeds, release throttle once transaxle has shifted into 4th gear (OD). Manually downshift selector lever into next lower gear and record speed at which downshift occurs. Continue downshifting and recording vehicle speed until transaxle has downshifted into low gear.
