BFC Diagnostic System Check
- Reinstall any components that have been removed. Cycle ignition switch from OFF to RUN position, engine off. Connect scan tool. Attempt to establish communication with BFC. If scan tool displays data, go to step 3). If scan tool does not display data, go to next step.
- Diagnose and repair problem in DLC. See appropriate DATA LINK CONNECTORS wiring diagram in SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in the WIRING DIAGRAMS section. Attempt to establish communication with BFC. If scan tool displays data, go to next step.
- Select BODY FUNCTIONS. Check for BFC DTCs. If any DTC exists, go to appropriate DTC TEST. If no DTCs exist, go to next step.
- Disconnect scan tool. Cycle ignition switch from OFF to RUN position. If all indicators turned on and off, go to step 6). If all indicators did not turn on and off, go to next step.
- If any indicator stays on or flashes, go to DTC TESTS . If no indicator stays on or flashes, go to next step.
- Check for DTCs. If any history DTC exists, go to next step. If no DTCs exist, system is operating properly.
- Using scan tool, retrieve freeze frame and failure records information. Duplicate conditions under which DTC was set. If DTC resets as current, go to appropriate DTC TEST . If DTC does not reset, system is operating properly.
