Both Remote Keyless Entry Transmitters Inoperative
- Resyncronize Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters. See RESYNCRONIZING TRANSMITTERS
under PROGRAMMING PROCEDURES. If RKE transmitters operate, system is okay. If RKE transmitters do not operate after resyncronization, go to next step.
- Check RKE transmitter batteries. If okay, go to next step. If batteries are bad, replace batteries. Repeat step 1). If batteries are okay, go to next step.
- Connect scan tool to Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC), located beneath Instrument Panel (I/P). Select Remote Function Actuator (RFA). If RFA module does not communicate with scan tool, go to next step. If scan tool can establish communications with RFA module, go to step 7).
- Check No. 2 fuse (10-amp) of right instrument panel PDC, located behind right side instrument panel. If fuse is open, locate and repair short in Orange wire. If fuse is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect RFA module connector. RFA module is located under right side of instrument panel, next to PDC. Using a test light connected to ground, check for power at terminal E16 (Orange wire) of RFA connector. See Fig 1
. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, locate and repair open in Orange wire between RFA connector and No. 2 fuse (10-amp) of right instrument panel PDC, located behind right side instrument panel.
- Using a test light connected to battery voltage, check for ground at terminal F16 (Black/White wire) of RFA connector. See Fig 1
. If test light illuminates, go to step 8). If test light does not illuminate, locate and repair open in Black/White wire.
- Using scan tool RFA data list function, select KEY FOB INFO. Press each button of a RKE transmitter, then each button of second RKE transmitter. Using scan tool, module receives signals from each RKE transmitter. If RKE transmitter signals are received, check for poor terminal contacts of RFA module connector. Repair as necessary. If connector is okay, replace RFA module. If RKE transmitter signal is not received, replace RKE transmitter(s).
