EGR System - Diesel: Description

Turbo Diesel models are equipped with an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system to reduce NOx emissions. A controlled amount of exhaust gas is introduced into the intake manifold depending on certain engine loads and temperature. This lowers combustion temperatures and NOx formation.

The main components of the system are: an air flow sensor, EGR valve, 2 electrovalves (atmosphere and vacuum), load sensor, Electronic control unit (ECU), fusible link module, speed sensor and a coolant thermocontact.
