Checking Ignition Spark Advance

  1. Connect tachometer and timing light to engine. Plug vacuum line to computer and solenoid kicker. With engine running at operating temperature, remove jumper wire from carburetor ground switch.
  2. Connect auxiliary vacuum supply to computer. Apply 16 in. Hg vacuum to system. Raise engine speed to 2000 RPM. Timing should be within 4° of specification. If spark is okay, go to next test. If spark is not okay, replace computer.
