Control Relay

  1. Disconnect electrical connector. Using an ohmmeter, check continuity between relay terminals No. 1 and 7, then 3 and 7. See Fig 1 . If no continuity is present, relay is okay. If continuity is present, control relay is defective.
  2. Apply battery voltage across terminals No. 8 (positive) and No. 4 (negative) while checking continuity between terminals No. 3 and 7. If continuity is present, relay is okay. If not, replace relay.
  3. Apply battery voltage across terminals No. 6 (positive) and No. 4 (negative) while checking continuity between terminals No. 1 and 7. If continuity is present, relay is okay. If not, replace relay.
  4. Apply battery voltage across terminals No. 5 (positive) and No. 2 (negative) while checking continuity between terminals No. 1 and 7. If continuity is present, relay is okay. If not, relay is defective.
