Charging System Control

The SMEC monitors battery voltage and charging system voltage. If a circuit fails. The SMEC will enter "Limp-In" mode. The SMEC will turn on the "CHECK ENGINE" light, and will substitute a value in place of the failed value. The following conditions will cause the SMEC to enter the "Limp-In" mode:

If the charging system returns to normal operation, the "CHECK ENGINE" light will remain on and a trouble code will be stored. The "CHECK ENGINE" light will remain on until next engine start. The SMEC will clear the trouble code after 50-100 engine starts if the fault does not happen again.
