Steering Column: Description
The steering column is a 2-piece unit, designed to collapse if the driver strikes it during a collision. The lower steering shaft connects to steering gear with a "U" joint. The column lock housing surrounds the steering shaft and houses the ignition lock. The ignition lock actuates the ignition switch through a push rod. The ignition switch is mounted lower on the column.
