ECM TROUBLE CODE DEFINITION

Code No. Circuit Affected
(1) No RPM reference pulse.
Open oxygen sensor circuit.
Coolant sensor circuit shorted.
Coolant sensor circuit open.
TPS signal voltage high.
TPS signal voltage low.
MAT voltage high.
VSS circuit.
MAT sensor signal voltage low.
EGR vacuum control signal.
MAP sensor voltage high.
MAP sensor voltage low.
IAC (EFI) speed error.
MAF Sensor Burn-Off (5.0/5.7L)
No distributor reference (HEI). C(3)I ignition - cam sensor loss. Cylinder select error (MEM-CAL).
EST circuit open or grounded.
ESC retard signal too low.
Lean oxygen sensor value.
Rich oxygen sensor value.
Faulty PROM, MEM-CAL or ECM.
Faulty/missing CALPAC or MEM-CAL.
Faulty alternator, voltage high.
Fuel pump voltage low.
Faulty ECM.
(1) Code "12" should be displayed only when no reference pulses are received by ECM (engine not running).
NOTE: Trouble code charts should only be used if "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light is illuminated (indicating a current problem exists). Exceptions are Code 13, 15, 24, 44 and 45 charts, which may be used to help diagnose intermittent codes.
NOTE: Any time Codes 51, 52, 54 or 55 are displayed with another code, start with "50-series" code first, then proceed to low profile numbered code.
