EGR System: Description

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system lowers combustion temperatures in combustion chamber, thereby reducing emission of oxides of nitrogen.

The main element of the system is the EGR valve, operated by vacuum and mounted on the intake manifold. The EGR feeds small amounts of exhaust gas back into the combustion chamber.
