Ignition Coil Testing

  1. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between B+ terminal and base of ignition coil. See Fig 1 . Reading should be high or infinite (open circuit). If resistance is not high or infinite, replace ignition coil.
  2. Check resistance between B+ and C- terminals. Reading should be about 0.5 ohm. Check resistance between C+ terminal and coil secondary terminal. Reading should be about 8300 ohms.
