Removal & Installation

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect PCM harness connectors. PCM is located on the right side of the engine compartment, rear of the wheelhouse. See Fig 1 . Remove the mounting fasteners from the PCM bracket.
  2. CAUTION: Do not touch the PCM connector pins or soldered components on the circuit board in order to prevent possible Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) damage. Do not remove the integrated circuit boards from the carrier.
  3. Remove the PCM and mounting bracket assembly from the engine compartment. Remove the PCM from the mounting bracket. To install, reverse removal procedure. The replacement PCM must be reprogrammed and the Crankshaft Position (CKP) system variation learn procedure must be performed. See PROGRAMMING in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article. The replacement PCM will not allow Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump operation until a total of 10 miles have accumulated.
