Installation Procedure

NOTE: Do not use solvent of any type when cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as damage to the gasket surfaces and throttle body assembly may result.
Use care in cleaning the gasket surfaces on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly, as sharp tools may damage the gasket surfaces.

  1. Clean the gasket surface on the intake manifold and the throttle body assembly.
  2. If necessary, install a new gasket.
  3. Install the throttle body assembly.
  4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
  5. Install the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the throttle body retaining nuts and bolts to 28 N.m (21 lb ft).

  6. Connect the throttle body coolant bypass hoses.
  7. Connect the heater pipe nut at the throttle body.

  9. Connect the IAC valve electrical connector.

  11. Connect the TP sensor electrical connector.

  13. Install the accelerator controls cable bracket. Refer to Accelerator Controls Cable Bracket Replacement .
  14. If applicable connect the cruise control cable to the throttle lever and accelerator bracket.

  16. Connect the accelerator controls cable to the throttle lever and accelerator bracket. Refer to Accelerator Controls Cable Replacement .

  18. Install the air intake tube.

    Tighten:  Tighten the air cleaner duct clamp to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

  19. Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector.
  20. Connect the breather tube into the air intake tube.
  21. Refill the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (LA1) or Draining and Filling Cooling System (L61) in Engine Cooling.
  22. IMPORTANT: The throttle should operate freely without binding between full closed and wide open throttle.
  23. Inspect for complete throttle opening and closing positions by operating the accelerator pedal. Also inspect for poor carpet fit under the accelerator pedal.
