Repair and Diagnosis: Transmission: Clutches: Description
Clutch system is single disc dry plate type. Main components are: Disc, diaphragm spring operated pressure plate, ball bearing type clutch release bearing, release fork, and pilot bearing. Clutch operation is mechanical through cable actuation.
A combination oil seal and bearing assembly has replaced the separate crankshaft pilot bearing and clutch housing oil seal in some models. The new seal and bearing assembly is mounted in clutch housing bore. The new short shaft does not extend into crankshaft bore as the long shaft with pilot bearing does.
An extended outer track ring on the bearing serves as the throw-out bearing support and sliding surface. The bearing is lubricated through an oil channel in clutch housing and oil hole in outer track ring.
