Manual Bleeding

CAUTION: Do not use mineral or paraffin base oil in clutch hydraulic system. Damage to rubber parts in cylinders will occur.
NOTE: This procedure must be performed with transaxle in vehicle. If transaxle has been removed from vehicle, clutch slave cylinder must be bled prior to reinstalling transaxle.
  1. Clean brake fluid reservoir cap and area around cap. Fill brake fluid reservoir with clean brake fluid. Attach transparent hose over clutch bleeder screw nipple. Submerge other end in container of clean DOT 3 brake fluid.
  2. Depress clutch pedal and hold. Loosen clutch bleeder screw, and allow fluid to drain. Tighten bleeder screw. Release clutch pedal. Repeat until no bubbles are seen in the bleeder hose.
  3. Check clutch pedal for sponginess. If present, repeat procedure. Check fluid, add as necessary.
