The PCM maintains constant communication with TAC module to operate cruise control system. PCM will not allow activation of cruise control system until both brake switches (TCC brake switch/cruise control brake switch and brakelight switch) and clutch switch (if equipped) signals have been verified at the beginning of the ignition cycle.
