Control Assembly: Removal

  1. Disable the SIR system. See AIR BAG DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION. Remove the console. See CONSOLE ASSEMBLY  .
  2. Using fascia retainer remover, disconnect shifter cable from control assembly pin. See Figure .
  3. Remove shifter cable retainer clip and remove cable from control assembly. Disconnect park lock cable assembly from pin on control assembly. See Figure .
  4. Depress tab on park lock cable and remove cable from control assembly. Remove indicator bulb by rotating the bulb 1/4 turn and pulling out. See Figure .
  5. Disconnect control assembly electrical connectors. Remove nuts from control assembly. Remove control assembly and replace, if necessary. See Figure .
