Installation Procedure

    NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

  1. Position the ABS control assembly into the bracket and tighten the nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the ABS control assembly-to-bracket nuts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

  3. Position the brake pipes into the master cylinder and tighten the brake pipe nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the brake pipes-to-master cylinder to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

  5. Position the brake pipes into the ABS control assembly and tighten the brake pipe nuts.

    Tighten:  Tighten the brake pipes-to-master cylinder to 18 N.m (13 lb ft).

    IMPORTANT: Ensure that all the electrical connections are fully seated and the latches are engaged.
    IMPORTANT: If the EBCM was replaced, make sure to program the correct engine and transaxle options in the EBCM. Refer to option bit configuration with scan tools.
  7. Install the electrical connector to the ABS control assembly.
  8. Install the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical.
  9. Fill the brake fluid reservoir with clean brake fluid up to the "MAX" mark on the reservoir.
  10. IMPORTANT: It is not required or recommended to bleed the ABS controller. Automated bleeding of the ABS controller may induce air into the system.
  11. Bleed the brakes. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) or Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure) in Hydraulic Brakes.
