Instrument Panel Sub-ASSY: Replacement

  1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT 

    HINT: 

    The bolts, screws and nuts necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel, are illustrated below and coded alphabetically.

  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL (See  AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS  ) 
  3. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips and the 2 claws, and remove the front pillar garnish LH.

  4. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 
  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL LH 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips and the claw, and remove the instrument panel finish lower panel LH.

  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH LOWER PANEL RH 
  7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 
    1. Remove the 2 clips.
    2. Disengage the 6 claws, and remove the instrument cluster finish panel.

  8. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Remove the 3 screws < E >.
    2. Disconnect the connectors, and remove the combination meter assy.

  9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH NO. 2 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips and the 2 claws, and remove the instrument cluster finish panel garnish No. 2.

  10. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH NO. 1 
  11. REMOVE HEATER CONTROL KNOB 
    1. Remove the 3 heater control knobs.

  12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY CTR 
    1. Remove the 4 screws. < B >
    2. Disengage the 4 clips and the claw, and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assy CTR.
    3. Disconnect the connectors.

  13. REMOVE RADIO BRACKET NO. 1 & NO. 2 (W/O RADIO) 
    1. Remove the 4 screws and the radio bracket No. 1 & No. 2.

  14. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSY (W/ RADIO) (See  AUDIO & VISUAL SYSTEM  ) 
  15. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSY 
    1. Push in the sides of the upper part of the glove compartment door assy to release the stoppers.
    2. Pull the glove compartment door assy and remove it.

  16. DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR 
  17. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws < C >, < D > or < E >and the bolt < A >.
    2. Disengage the 3 clips and the 9 claws.
    3. Disconnect the connectors.
    4. Pull the instrument panel sub-assy w/ passenger airbag assy and remove it.

  18. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIR BAG ASSY (See  AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS  ) 
  19. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO. 1 
    1. Using nippers etc., cut off the ultrasonic welding portion as shown in the illustration to remove the heater to register duct No. 1 from the instrument panel sub-assy.

  20. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO. 3 
  21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSY NO. 1 
    1. Using nippers etc., cut off the ultrasonic welding portion as shown in the illustration to remove the instrument panel register assy No. 1 from the instrument panel sub-assy.

  22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL CUSHION NO. 1 
    1. Remove the instrument panel cushion No. 1 from the instrument panel sub-assy.

  23. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY 
  24. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSY NO. 1 
    1. When replacing the instrument panel sub-assy with a new one, cut the boss off using nippers, etc. as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE: When reusing the instrument panel sub-assy, start from step (b).

    2. Using a screw, install the instrument panel register assy No. 1 to the instrument panel sub-assy.

  25. INSTALL HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO. 1 
    1. When replacing the instrument panel sub-assy with a new one, cut the boss off using nippers, etc. as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE: When reusing the instrument panel sub-assy, start from step (b).

    2. Using a screw, install the heater to register duct No. 1 to the instrument panel sub-assy.

  26. INSTALL HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO. 3 
  27. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSY W/PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSY 
    1. Using a torque wrench, install the instrument panel sub-assy w/ passenger airbag assy with bolt < A >.

      Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.Ibf)

  28. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (See  AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS  )
