Lower Instrument Panel: Installation

  1. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the lower instrument panel, and check that the wire harness are not caught.

    2. Connect the 3 connectors.
    3. Attach the 7 wire harness clamps.
    4. Install the 2 clips.
    5. Install the 3 screws, 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
    6. Connect the hood lock control cable.
  2. INSTALL NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT 
    1. Install the No. 2 heater to register duct with the 3 clips.

  3. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Attach the 2 clips to install the cowl side trim.
    2. Install the clip.

  4. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH 
    1. Attach the 12 claws to install the front door scuff plate LH.
  6. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH 

    HINT:

    Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.

  7. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the instrument panel under cover, as shown in the illustration.
    2. Attach the 2 claws.

  8. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the driver side knee airbag (see DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY ).
  9. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY 
    1. Connect the clamp and install the console box.
    2. Install the 2 bolts.
    3. Manual transaxle:

      Install the 2 screws.

    4. Automatic transaxle:

      Install the 4 screws.

    5. Install the console box carpet.
    6. Connect the connector.

  10. INSTALL CONSOLE UPPER REAR PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Attach the 7 claws to install the console upper rear panel.

  11. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  12. INSTALL HEADLAMP DIMMER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  13. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER 
  14. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  15. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL PAD ASSEMBLY (See  INSTALLATION  ) 
  16. INSTALL UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the upper instrument panel (see INSTALLATION  ).
  17. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
  18. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization (see INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
  19. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Check the SRS warning light (see DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM ).
