Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK 
    1. Allow the engine to idle.
    2. Check for exhaust gas leak around the HO2 sensor.

      OK: 

      No leak from the HO2 sensor. 

    NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE EXHAUST GAS LEAK POINT  (See EXHAUST PIPE )

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR

    1. Connect an intelligent tester or a Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the tester ON.
    4. Start the engine and warm it up.
    5. Allow the engine to idle.
    6. Select the following menu items:
      1. Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / ACTIVE TEST / A/F CONTROL.
      2. Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine and ECT Active Test / Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor.
    7. Check the O2S B1S2 values when the A/F CONTROL (Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor) is -12.5% (Lean fuel-trim).
    8. Check the O2S B1S2 values when the A/F CONTROL (Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor) is 25% (Rich fuel-trim).

      Standard voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

      A/F CONTROL (Control the Injection Volume for A/F Sensor) O2S B1S2
      -12.5% Less than 0.2 V
      25% More than 0.8 V

    NG : REPLACE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR  (See REMOVAL )

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P0607) 
    1. Connect an intelligent tester or a Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the tester ON.
    4. Clear DTC (See DTC CHECK/CLEAR ).
    5. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and turn the tester OFF.
    6. Disconnect the tester.
    7. Disconnect the cable from the battery negative (-) terminal and wait for 1 minute.
    8. Connect the cable to the battery negative (-) terminal,
    9. Connect the tester to the DLC3.
    10. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    11. Turn the tester ON.
    12. Start the engine.

    13. Perform the drive pattern.
      1. Warm up the engine.
      2. Accelerate the vehicle until 80 km/h (50 mph) and stop the vehicle.
      3. Drive the vehicle by 60 to 80 km/h (35 to 50 mph) for 5 minutes or more.
    14. Select the following menu items:
      1. Intelligent tester - Select: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.
      2. Techstream - Select: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
    15. Read DTCs.

      Result
