Transmission Control Cable Assembly: Installation
- INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
- Install the transmission control cable assembly into the control shaft lever with the nut.
Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)
- Fix the transmission control cable assembly onto the transmission control cable bracket with a new clip.
- Install the transmission control cable assembly with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)
- Install the transmission control cable assembly onto the rear engine mounting insulator with the bolt.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)
- Connect the transmission control cable assembly to the transmission control cable support.
- Rotate the transmission control cable nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, press in the stopper until it makes 2 "click" sounds.
- Push the lock piece up from the back side of the adjuster case while pinching the claws on the lock piece.
- Install the outer cable of the transmission control cable onto the shift lever retainer, check that the position of the spring is the same as A shown in the illustration, and press in the stopper.
HINT:
If the stopper cannot be pressed in, slightly rotate the nut clockwise and then press in the stopper.
- Connect the control cable to the shift lever.
- Connect the 2 connectors.
- Install the transmission control cable assembly into the control shaft lever with the nut.
- ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See INSTALLATION )
- INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR
- Install the front upper No. 1 floor heat insulator with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 5.5 N*m (56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf)
- Install the front upper No. 1 floor heat insulator with the 3 nuts.
- INSTALL CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
- Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the compression spring.
Minimum length:
38.5 mm (1.516 in.)
If the length is not as specified, replace the compression spring.
- Using a plastic hammer and a wooden block, tap in a new exhaust pipe gasket until its surface is flush with the center exhaust pipe assembly and No. 2 center exhaust pipe assembly.
CAUTION:
- Install the exhaust pipe gasket in the correct direction.
- Do not damage the outer surface of the exhaust pipe gasket.
- Do not reuse the exhaust pipe gasket.
- Do not push in the gasket with the exhaust pipe when connecting it.
- Install the exhaust pipe support, then install the center exhaust pipe assembly.
- Install the center exhaust pipe assembly onto the No. 2 center exhaust pipe assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.
Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)
- Install the center exhaust pipe assembly onto the front exhaust pipe assembly with a new gasket and 2 bolts.
Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf)
- Using vernier calipers, measure the free length of the compression spring.
