Steering Wheel: Removal

CAUTION: Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing the steering column (See PRECAUTION ).
  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. REMOVE STEERING PAD  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE CRUISE CONTROL MAIN SWITCH  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE NO. 1 STEERING WHEEL ORNAMENT 
    1. Remove the screw.
    2. Disengage the 2 claws and the pin.
    3. Remove the No.1 steering wheel ornament.

  6. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL  (See REMOVAL  )
  7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL LOWER BOSS COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Disengage the claw and remover the steering wheel lower boss cover.
