Transmission Control Cable Assembly: Removal: Removal

  1. REMOVE CENTER LOWER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 18
  2. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 19
  3. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 20
  4. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 22
  5. REMOVE BATTERY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
  6. REMOVE NO. 2 BATTERY CARRIER  See step  24
  7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH NO. 1 AIR CLEANER HOSE  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  8. REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY  See step  26
  9. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY  See step  27
  10. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and gasket and separate the center exhaust pipe assembly from the front exhaust pipe assembly.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 compression springs and separate the center exhaust pipe assembly from the No. 2 center exhaust pipe assembly.

    3. Remove the 2 exhaust pipe supports, then remove the center exhaust pipe assembly.

  11. REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and remove the front No. 1 floor heat insulator.

  12. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 connectors.

    2. Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever.

    3. Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable.

      NOTE:

      Do not remove the stopper. If the stopper is removed, reinstall it to its original position.

    4. Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.

      NOTE:

      Do not over-rotate the nut as it will come off the interior spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.

    5. Remove the bolt and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the rear engine mounting insulator.

    6. Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the cable support clamp.

    7. Remove the nut and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.

    8. Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission control cable bracket.
    9. Remove the 2 nuts and remove the transmission control cable assembly.
