Transmission Control Cable Assembly: Removal: Removal
- REMOVE CENTER LOWER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 18
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 19
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX INSERT . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 20
- REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 22
- REMOVE BATTERY . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
- REMOVE NO. 2 BATTERY CARRIER See step 24
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH NO. 1 AIR CLEANER HOSE . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY See step 26
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY See step 27
- REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 bolts and gasket and separate the center exhaust pipe assembly from the front exhaust pipe assembly.
- Remove the 2 bolts, 2 compression springs and separate the center exhaust pipe assembly from the No. 2 center exhaust pipe assembly.
- Remove the 2 exhaust pipe supports, then remove the center exhaust pipe assembly.
- REMOVE FRONT NO. 1 FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR
- Remove the 3 nuts and remove the front No. 1 floor heat insulator.
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the 2 connectors.
- Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the shift lever.
- Using a screwdriver, pull out the stopper of the transmission control cable.

NOTE:Do not remove the stopper. If the stopper is removed, reinstall it to its original position.
- Rotate the nut counterclockwise approximately 180° and, while holding the nut in that position, disconnect the transmission control cable from the shift lever retainer.
NOTE:
Do not over-rotate the nut as it will come off the interior spring and the transmission control cable will not be reusable.
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the rear engine mounting insulator.
- Disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the cable support clamp.
- Remove the nut and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the control shaft lever.
- Remove the clip and disconnect the transmission control cable assembly from the transmission control cable bracket.
- Remove the 2 nuts and remove the transmission control cable assembly.
