General Maintenance

  1. INSPECT DRIVE BELT 
    1. Inspect the drive belt. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION .
  2. INSPECT ENGINE OIL 
    1. Check the engine oil. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION .
  3. REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER 
    1. Replace the engine oil and oil filter. Refer to REPLACEMENT .
  4. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT 
    1. Inspect the engine coolant. Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION .
  5. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT 
    1. Replace the engine coolant. Refer to REPLACEMENT .
  6. INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS 
    1. Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.
  7. INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER 
    1. Remove the air filter.
    2. Visually check that the air filter is not excessively damaged or oily. If necessary, replace the air filter.
    3. Reinstall the air filter.
    4. Clean the filter with compressed air.

      HINT: 

      First blow from the inside of the filter thoroughly then repeat from the outside.

  8. REPLACE AIR CLEANER FILTER 
    1. Replace the air filter with a new one.
  9. INSPECT FUEL TANK CAP, FUEL LINES, CONNECTIONS AND FUEL VAPOR CONTROL VALVE 
    1. Visually check the fuel lines and hoses for cracks, leakage, loose connections and deformation. Also, visually check the vapor control valve for looseness.
  10. REPLACE SPARK PLUGS 
    1. Replace the spark plugs. Refer to REMOVAL .
