Ignition System - HITACHI: Overhaul: Disassembly

  1. Remove distributor cap and rotor. Remove vacuum diaphragm screws, and pull vacuum diaphragm out of distributor housing. Note and record position of wires, then disconnect wires from pick-up coil. Remove harness.
  2. Using 2 screwdrivers, pry reluctor off rotor shaft. Remove screws and take out breaker plate assembly. Remove pick-up coil, spacers, stator, and magnet from breaker plate assembly. Drive out roll pin from pinion gear.
  3. Remove thrust washer(s) and gear. Carefully remove distributor shaft assembly. Detach springs from rotor shaft. Remove packing and screw, then pull out rotor shaft. Remove weights.
