Anti-Theft Systems: Description

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.

CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exists until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
CAUTION: All air bag system wiring harness and connectors are colored Yellow. DO NOT use electrical test equipment on these circuits.

Security system monitors engine compartment hood, dome and trunk light circuits to sense unauthorized entry. Security system will sound horn and flash headlights if unauthorized entry is detected. Alarm will automatically reset itself after 2 to 3 minutes. Alarm is tripped by opening rear gate, trunk lid, hood or a door without using proper key, while alarm is in active mode. Alarm automatically turns off after 2-3 minutes.

System is equipped with an optional keyless entry system integrated with the anti-theft alarm system. See Fig 1 .
