Basic Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Open all windows. Remove key from ignition key cylinder. Close all doors and rear gate or trunk lid. Press transmitter LOCK/ARM button. If security system can be set, go to next step. If security system cannot be set, see ANTI-THEFT/SECURITY SYSTEM SYMPTOMS  under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSING & TESTING.
  2. Check security indicator light and clearance light operation. If security indicator light and clearance light blink, go to next step. If security indicator light and clearance light do not blink, see ANTI-THEFT/SECURITY SYSTEM SYMPTOMS  under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSING & TESTING.
  3. Unlock all doors using door lock switch on front door. Open any door, rear gate or trunk lid. If security does not alarm when one door is opened, see ANTI-THEFT/SECURITY SYSTEM SYMPTOMS  under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSING & TESTING. If security system alarms with one door open, go to next step.
  4. Check security alarm operation. If horn, clearance light and security light operates, and starter motor activates, go to next step. If horn, clearance light and security light do not operate, and starter motor does not activate, see ANTI-THEFT/SECURITY SYSTEM SYMPTOMS  under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSING & TESTING.
  5. Press transmitter UNLOCK/DISARM button. If horn and clearance light operate, and starter motor activates, go to next step. If horn and clearance light do not operate, and starter motor does not activate, see ANTI-THEFT/SECURITY SYSTEM SYMPTOMS  under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSING & TESTING.
  6. Remove key from ignition switch. Close all doors and rear gate or trunk lid. Open front hood. Press transmitter LOCK/ARM button. Disconnect ground cable from battery. Reconnect cable to battery. If security indicator light blinks after reconnecting ground cable, go to next step. If security indicator light does not blink after reconnecting ground cable, replace keyless entry control module. See KEYLESS ENTRY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  7. Remove key from ignition switch. Close all windows, doors and rear gate or trunk lid. Cover hood with a blanket. Press transmitter LOCK/ARM button. Ensure security indicator light blinks every 2 seconds. Hit center of windshield with palm of hand to ensure alarm operates properly. If alarm does not operate properly, adjust impact sensitivity. See SECURITY CONTROL MODULE IMPACT SENSITIVITY  under ADJUSTMENTS. If impact sensitivity is okay, see ANTI-THEFT/SECURITY SYSTEM SYMPTOMS  under SYMPTOM DIAGNOSING & TESTING. If impact sensitivity adjustment does not correct problem, replace keyless entry control module. See KEYLESS ENTRY CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
